TSUPERMAN: New Year's Evil

A happy 2017 to everyone!  And we kick off the new year with--yep, Tsuperman again.

From Pilipino Funny Komiks #394 (January 3, 1986), Tsuperman introduces readers to some of the villains that he was slated to face in the coming year.

Of the villains presented here, only Electrico and Golax were actually able to appear before the series was abruptly cancelled later that year.

TSUPERMAN vs THE WOMAN IN BLACK

So, here's another Tsuperman post (what can I say, I like the guy).  Most of his stories are usually done-in-one 2-pagers, but he did have the occasional multi-part adventure.  This first one, from Pilipino Funny Komiks #385-88 (November 1-22, 1985), pits the dynamic driver against a shape-shifting vampiress-witch.

The Origin of TSUPERMAN

Let's get back to business.

Created by writer Markey and artist Louie Magbanua, Tsuperman and his magic jeepney Super J first appeared in Pilipino Funny Komiks #378 (September 13, 1985), published by Islas Filipinas Publishing Co., Inc.

Tsuperman was a unique series in that it took up only 2 pages rather than the 4 to 5-page format common to most of the action-adventure strips that ran in Funny Komiks.  Most of the stories were done-in-one, with the occassional multi-part story arc.

From the debut issue, here's the brief origin of how a simple act of kindness turned Atong the jeepney driver into an instant superhero.

TSUPERMAN vs IRONMAN

No, not that Iron Man.  From Pilipino Funny Komiks #400 (February 14, 1986), superhero jeepney driver Tsuperman fights an armored villain with an iron-transmuting gun.
