SIOPAWMAN Meets BATHMAN

For this August, it's Bat-Month, where we'll be taking a look at characters who were either inspired*  by a certain Caped Crusader or just happened to have something to do with bats in general.

*Yes, Mr. Anonymous, I am using the word inspired.  DEAL WITH IT.

In these early '80's newspaper strips by legendary cartoonist Larry Alcala, his rotund superhero Siopawman encounters an obsessed millionaire who stalks the night in the pursuit of-- bathing?

The Summer of SIOPAWMAN

_________________________________________________
Siopawman was one of the many enduring creations of prolific Filipino cartoonist Larry Alcala. One of the first Pinoy komiks superheroes, the character first appeared in Halakhak Komiks in 1946. He would later appear in the pages of Alcala Fight Komix (published by CRAF Publications, Inc.) from 1963-1967. __________________________________________________________
Siopawman would also appear in newspaper comic strip format, starting with an english-language strip that ran in the defunct Filipino broadsheet Daily Express from 1972 to 1983. The character's last run was a strip in the Philippine Star, which Alcala was working on up until his death in 2002. __________________________________________________________
